Description: MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the 12S rRNA region of the mitochondrial genome, studied as a regulator of metabolic homeostasis and cellular stress responses. In research models, it is investigated for its role in modulating AMPK signaling, glucose uptake, and insulin sensitivity, as well as its translocation to the nucleus to influence adaptive gene expression under metabolic stress.
