Description: Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin, extended with a stabilising Pro-Gly-Pro sequence to increase enzymatic resistance. In neuropharmacological research models, it is investigated for its anxiolytic and nootropic activity, with studies examining its modulation of GABAergic and monoaminergic signalling, brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression, and enkephalin-degrading enzyme activity. It is also employed to probe immunomodulatory pathways and cytokine balance owing to its structural relationship to tuftsin.
