Description

IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is a synthetic 83-amino-acid analog of insulin-like growth factor 1 that acts as an IGF-1 receptor agonist, modified by an N-terminal 13-residue extension and an Arg-for-Glu substitution at position 3 that markedly lowers its affinity for insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins (IGFBPs). This reduced IGFBP binding confers greater metabolic stability and prolonged activity relative to native IGF-1, making it a common tool for probing growth factor signaling in research models. It is investigated for its role in ligand-receptor binding dynamics, PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathway activation, and the regulation of cellular proliferation, differentiation, and anabolic signaling under defined in vitro conditions.
